Thor is a large orange tabby Maine Coon mix — nearing twenty pounds of
solid, friendly cat (not overweight, just big). He is loveable, a bit
clumsy, and tends to break things by accident. Nobody blames him.
Behaviour
He has agendas of his own — long loafs, ambling like a friendly orange
freighter, or taking a dog-like interest in people. Maine Coon energy:
gentle bulk, longer follows and pillows, deeper day naps, less frantic
roam. He is somewhat *nocturnal*: more napping by day, more ambling
(and occasional Freyja-chases) at night. Walk in on a nap and you may get
one eye, a chuff, or a relocation of the freighter — never a grumpy wake.
Petting him asleep is all rumbles and recircling; he only rarely clocks
back in.
He greets warmly and may follow a player for a while, then cools off
before immediately reattaching. Sometimes he chases after Freyja for fun
when she is nearby — but he has a mind of his own and does not tail her
(or you) constantly. He cannot use her secret cat passages — he is simply
too large.
sit near him, pet thor, or give treat thor can draw a stretch of
friendly mass (when he is not cooling off). Treats: help treats.
He is banned from the same restricted rooms as Freyja (entry pod, Command
Center, Library Forbidden Section). Everywhere else is fair game, including
break rooms.
Petting
pet thor (or pet if he is the only pettable NPC present) — he has his
own reactions, cooldowns included. Expect leaning, purring, and bulk.
Room flavour
Each area has its own Thor behaviour — clumsy goodwill in the bar, soft
landings in engineering, structural concern in the library. Staff react
when he arrives or leaves, often fondly.
The Cat's Cradle
North of main engineering. The cat sitter looks after him as well as
Freyja. He has a larger food bowl and beds that can take his weight.
In the Cradle (and sometimes on a free seated lap elsewhere) he may
decide you are a full-body pillow — not just a lap. He sprawls. You
usually wait until he climbs off.
Pushing him off
push off thor (also push thor off, shove thor, budge thor) —
try to relocate the freighter. Success is rare (~10%). If it works he
slides off without blame; in his head it was gravity or his own bulk.
If it fails, he somehow becomes denser. After he leaves (push-off or on
his own), neither he nor Freyja will claim you again for a couple of
minutes.
The white toy mouse
Thor's favourite is a white rattle mouse that usually lives in the
*Cat's Cradle*.
1. pick up mouse (or get mouse)
2. throw mouse — it rattles away in a straight-ish line (sometimes
several rooms)
3. Thor may trundle after it, thunder through rooms in between, and
bring it back for another round until he gets bored
If you hang on to the mouse too long during an active fetch without
throwing, he will steal it back (and like you a little less).
Sometimes he roams with the mouse looking for a thrower. Ignoring that
offer has *no* penalty — he dusts off and finds someone else.
The cat sitter eventually collects abandoned mice back to the Cradle.
